November 21, 2009 (Kearny, NJ) This week's poll, My Favorite Part of KOTW, results are in. Only fifteen readers bothered to cast a vote. Sixty percent of those voting selected the Discussion Board as their favorite part of Kearny On The Web. Thirty Three and One Third selected Community News while Six point Seven percent selected the Front Page.

KOTW is disappointed in the poor turn out for this week's poll. Our statistics show that only a small fraction of those visiting KOTW participated.

This week's poll, Which Town Has The Best Holiday Decorations, hopefully will garner more participation from our readers.

November 15, 2009 (Harrison, NJ) On Sunday November 1, 2009, John William Counterman III was struck by an New Jersey Transit train at 11:30 a.m. in Harrison (NJ). Counterman was trespassing along the railroad tracks in an area usually not accessible by pedestrians. It is unclear why Counterman was walking along the tracks. The New Jersey Transit conductor sounded the train's horn and applied the emergency braking system but was unable to stop the training before striking Counterman. Counterman was transported to UMDNJ Hospital in Newark and admitted to the hospital's trauma unit.

Three days later his mother made the decision to remove life support and her son passed away. A very tragic story has however a silver lining. Counterman had expressed his desire to be an organ donor. His mother fulfilled his wish and donated his organs.

November 14, 2009 (Kearny, NJ) This week's poll entitled "Should KOTW get a link on Kearny's Official website" has come to a conclusion. First, the number of KOTW readers participating in the poll is about the exact percentage of voters who turn out for a Kearny School Board election. Those that did vote however are of the opinion that KOTW should get a link on the Town of Kearny's Official website. There were a total of nineteen readers who voted: 15 or 78.9% of the voters voted Yes while 4 or 21.1% voted No. The turnout was not exactly what KOTW expected. We would have preferred a little more participation on such an important topic.
