February 9, 2010 (Harrison, NJ) Harrison Superintendent of Schools James Doran announced earlier today that the Harrison School District schools will be closed tomorrow Wednesday, February 10, 2010 in anticipation of a snow storm. The Harrison Weather Station forecast calls for 1 to 3 inches but other forecasters have higher accumulations. The East Newark School District will be closed tomorrow. East Newark's sends its high school students to Harrison High School and follows Harrison's closure decisions.
The Kearny Superintendent of Schools, Frank Digesere, will make a determination at 5 a.m. tomorrow morning as to whether the Kearny School District will close due to the weather conditions.

February 6, 2010 (Kearny, NJ) Our latest poll Which Department Would You Cut if You Were Mayor? results have been finalized. Participants have suggested that the Fire Department, Mayor's Staff and Public Works be the first three departments to have staffing cut.
The Fire Department received 31 votes (26.7%), Mayor's Staff received 29 votes (25%) while the Public Works received 16 votes (13.8%). The other departments in the poll received the following votes (percentage): Legal 11 (9.5%), Town Clerk's Office 11 (9.5%), Municipal Court 8 (6.9%), Senior Citizen Programs 4 (3.4%), Police 3 (2.6%), Tax Collector 1 (.9%), Water Department 1 (.9%), and Library 1 (.9%). There was a total of 115 votes.

February 6, 2010 (Kearny NJ) Residents of West Hudson went to sleep expecting to be shoveling snow and digging out of a major snow storm which hit the east coast. Residents however were pleasantly surprised to find that there was no significant snow fall. Forecasters had predicted that northern New Jersey would receive between 1 to 6 inches of snow. South Jersey received upwards of 18 inches of snow. The nation's capital received upwards of 20 inches of snow.
