February 17, 2010 (Harrison, NJ) The Red Bulls Job Fair drew over 1,000 applicants for 500 part time jobs at the arena. Individuals started lining up in the cold weather outside the stadium hours before the doors were scheduled to open.

The Job Fair caused a traffic jam as applicants converged on Harrison in hopes of landing a job. Clearly the poor economy and the prospect of a job, even a part time one, drew many applicants from varying backgrounds in search of employment. Many applicants appeared eager to work at the stadium and got an opportunity to peer out onto the playing field.



Feburary 13, 2010 (Harrison, NJ) On Tuesday, February 16, 2010, the Red Bulls will be holding an Open House job fair from 3 pm to 8 pm at the Bulls' Corner of Red Bull Arena located at 600 Cape May Street, Harrison.

Red Bull Arena, Delaware North, Securitas and ISS will be recruiting for positions in the following areas: Kitchen Staff, Box Office Representative, Security Personnel, Concessions Personnel, Retail Staff, Stewards, Heavy Duty/Light Duty Cleaner, and more.



February 10, 2010 (West Orange, NJ) Kearny resident Carla Henriques gave birth to twins today at St. Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston after being rescued by an Essex County Sheriff's Officer. Essex County Sheriff's Detective Joseph Stivalo was on snow patrol when he came across a Dodge Magnum stuck without traction in West Orange. The vehicle driven by Miguel Henriques, the husband of Carla Henriques, was not able to gain traction on the hilly portion of Northfield Avenue.

Carla Henriques and some family members were moved to Detective Stivalo's SUV and transported to St. Barnabas Medical Center because she was already in labor. Detective Stivalo stated that if necessary he would have delivered the babies calling upon his prior training.



February 10, 2010 (Kearny, NJ) The Kearny Library is sponsoring a seminar on Job Hunting Tips hosted by Barrie Alan Peterson, career counselor and business professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. The seminar will be held on Thursday February 11, 2010 at the Kearny Public Library, 318 Kearny Avenue, Kearny, New Jersey.

Mr. Peterson will talk about government resources, how to search online and job searching strategies. He will also discuss interviewing techniques and resume writing. Participants are invited to bring along a resume for pointers as time permits.

Kudos to the Kearny Library staff for putting together such a timely and informative seminar.

February 10, 2010 (Harrison, NJ)As previously reported, the Harrison and East Newark School Districts announced early on Tuesday that their schools would be closed due to the snow storm which is expected to dump 10 to 18 inches of snow in New Jersey.

KOTW has been informed that the Kearny and the North Arlington Public School districts will also be closed Wednesday due to the storm.

It is expected that private schools will also close.
