November 3, 2009 (Kearny NJ) Incumbent Councilwoman Carol Doyle has retained her council seat as the Third Ward councilwoman defeating opponent John Campbell. The Hudson County Clerk's office is reporting that Carol Doyle received 1301 (72.16%) votes and John Campbell received 501 (27.79%) votes. There was one person who typed in a Personal Choice.
November 3, 2009 (Kearny NJ) It's Election Day. Don't Forget to Get Out and Vote. Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. For those of us that have been following both the Governor's race and Kearny's Mayoral and Third Ward races, it will be interesting to see if the polls and the commentary on KOTW's Discussion Board have anything to do with the reality of what individuals will be doing when they go into the voting booth. There is also a question on bonding for open space which has not gotten much press.
In the Governor's race, Republican Candidate Chris Christie has lead in the polls for much of the race. The Democratic parties push in the last few weeks has tightened up the race.

In the race for New Jersey Governor Republican challenger Chris Christie is neck in neck with incumbent Governor Jon Corzine after leading for much of the race in the polls. Independent Chris Daggett is making a good showing for an Independent but some have faulted him for taking votes away from Christie.
The only contested races locally are the Kearny Mayoral race and the Kearny 3rd Ward.
October 29, 2009 (Harrison NJ) Harrison Police arrested Felix Garcia, 30, in Harrison for murder. Garcia allegedly shot and killed a roomate in Worcester Massachusetts on Sunday after having an argument over a soccer game. Alcohol may have been a factor in the murder.
According to a news report, Worcester Massachusetts Police Department called the Harrison Police Department and alerted them that Garcia may be in town visiting relatives. The Harrison SWAT team mobilized and waited for Garcia to leave his relatives house and arrested him without incident.
