November 16, 2009 (Harrison, NJ) The Red Bulls Soccer Team has entered into a multi-year agreement to bring the Football World Series to its new stadium in Harrison. The agreement signed by the Red Bulls will bring international teams to the Red Bulls Stadium and provide the team with additional revenue as the host and from advertisers both locally and internationally.

In exchange, the Red Bulls will play games in Amsterdam, Dubai and Shanghai as part of the tournament. The value of the agreement was not revealed by news coverage. Previously, the Red Bulls had hosted other international teams including Barcelona of Spain.

The Red Bulls are also expected to have soccer teams from Spain, Portugal and Brazil in an attempt to capitalize on those countries fan base in the West Hudson area and in the Ironbound Section of Newark.

According to Town of Harrison officials, starting in January 2010 the Red Bulls will be paying property taxes in the range of $2.1 million per year. At least one newsblog has expressed doubt as to whether the Town of Harrison can actually collect property taxes from the Red Bulls since they do not own the stadium property. The Harrison Police Union leadership have expressed manpower concerns on providing security, traffic management and logistics for the opening of the Red Bulls stadium. Hopefully, these issues will be worked out before the first regularly scheduled Red Bulls game in March of 2010.
