January 26, 2010 (Kearny, NJ) The Chartis Insurance Company is set to auction off the USAir Airbus A320 aircraft that landed in the Hudson River. The plane has been in one of Joseph Supor and Son's warehouse since it was recovered from the Hudson River. Joseph Supor & Sons Rigging of Harrison (NJ) has previously recovered and stored salvaged planes for insurance carriers after aircraft mishaps. Their website has pictures of some of their prior recoveries.

The USAir Airbus A320 however is not just any salvage plane. It is the Miracle on the Hudson airplane. On January 15, 2009, USAir Captain Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger managed to land the plane in the Hudson River after both engines stalled when the plane ran into an unexpected flock of birds just after takeoff from LaGuardia Airport in New York.
The auction listing notes that the plane received extensive damage and its part were submerged in water. Despite the warnings, Chartis Insurance Company has received a large interest in the plane.
The Auction is scheduled to close on March 27, 2010.
