July 3, 2010 (Kearny, NJ) The Annual Town of Kearny Independence Day Celebration & Fireworks is scheduled for Sunday, July 4, 2010 at Vetereans Field starting at 6:30 p.m. Vetereans Field is located between Bergen and Afton Streets on Belgrove Drive.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. your favorite cartoon characters Sylvester, Tweety Bird, Scooby-Doo and Spong Bob, Gracie and Whistles (the clowns) will supply balloon art, mime acts and variety of clown activities. In addition Carl the magician will perform a 30 minute magic show for those in attendance. Pony rides and inflatable moon walk and giant slide will be available for the kids.



At 7:00 p.m. the Garden State Concert Band will entertain the audience. Following the concert by the Garden State Concert Band, Fireworks will be begin at approximately ten minutes after 9 p.m. at the Frank A. Vincent Marina located directly in front of the Veteran's Field. The best location to view the fireworks is on Belgrove Drive between Bergen Avenue and Afton Street.

Please bring your own lawn chair and/or blankets. There are no alcoholic beverages allowed. Vendors will be on hand for those who want to get a snack or drink during the festivities. Mayor Alberto Santos will be in attendance along with most of the town council.
