January 10, 2009 (Kearny, NJ) Our Which Town Has The Best Holiday Decorations poll closed with Kearny as the top vote getter. The results were as follows: Kearny 29 votes (56.9%), Harrison 13 votes (25.5%), North Arlington 7 votes (13.7%), and East Newark 2 votes (3.9%).
As usual participation in our poll was worse than the turnout at school board election. The poll was open from late November until today and garnered only 51 poll participants. Our statistics have increased significantly since our website was redesigned. Our ranking on Google has increased and has resulted in increased readership. Our Discussion Board is of course as popular as ever.
KOTW agrees with the results our our Holiday Decoration poll. Kearny does have classy Holiday decorations helped by its streetscape work that has been completed over the years with the assistance of Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) funding. East Newark and Harrison have done some of its own streetscaping but only a limited basis.
Our latest poll, Which Department Would You Cut if You Were Mayor?, should be interesting. With both Governor Jon Corzine and Governor-Elect Chris Christie making cuts to municipal aid and stating that there will be additional cuts, local Mayors must make some difficult decisions in the next few weeks. Let them know which Departments you feel should be cut. We are looking forward to the results.
