December 5, 2009 (New Providence, NJ) Local artist Joseph Tiedemann of Renaissance Restoration Studios was commissioned to restore murals in St. Andrew's Church in New Providence, New Jersey.



The murals were originally painted by Fernando Calderon, a Spanish artist, over 40 years ago. Calderon was visiting New Jersey on his way to California for an art exhibition when his painting were delayed in transit. Instead of attending the art exhibit, Calderon was commissioned to paint the murals for 1 dollar per day plus food and lodging. Calderon went on to become a famous muralist. Calderon passed away in 2003.

The murals depict the twelve apostles and a nativity scene. The public is invited to visit the church and see the murals. St. Andrew's Church is located at 419 South Street, New Providence, New Jersey.
