November 6, 2009 (Harrison, NJ) The Harrison Health Department issued a color flyer warning residents and property owners that the Health Department and the Department of Public Works (DPW) will be stepping up enforcement of litter rules.



The flyer states that "In order to keep the sidewalks and streets of Harrison clean and litter-free, kindly adhere to the following rules:



DO NOT place Supermarket Type Bags at the Curb - only large,durable plastic bags may be used (and they must be securely tied)





DO NOT over-fill recyclable containers - This causes bottles and cans to spill onto the sidewalk and street (only fill the Container 3/4 to the top)



DO NOT put loose paper and cardboard at the curb - all paper and cardboard must be bundled and securely tied to prevent it from scattering in the wind



DO NOT put household garbage in the town's litter baskets - these receptacles are for litter only



DO NOT put garbage or recyclables to the curb prior to sunset the day before collection - we want to kepp our sidewalks clear



DO NOT put garbage or recyclables in front of someone else's property be a good neighbor"



The flyer states that there will be no more Warnings, Tickets for violating the Town and Health Codes will be issued immediately.



The flyer does not state the amount of the fines.
