July 5, 2009 (Nanuet NY) A tanker truck making a delivery of chlorine for a swimming pool leaked and caused the evacuation of the public swimming pool and lake.

According to one news report: "The accident happened at 10 a.m. when a truck driver from Universal Chemical of South Kearny, N.J., was delivering sodium hypochlorite to the Normandy Village pool, a chemical compound popularly known as chlorine and used as a disinfectant in swimming pools.

"When the guy hooked up to the connection, he saw that it was leaking and shut it off as quickly as he could," said John Kryger, deputy fire coordinator for Rockland County.

July 14, 2009 (Kearny NJ)  Earlier this week, KOTW signed up to follow both Christopher Christie's and Jon Corzine's Twitter pages.  Christie then began to follow KOTW on Twitter.  As of today, Jon Corzine has not.  Should we infer something from the above facts.  Does it simply mean that Christopher Christie is more open to the use of technology to reach potential voters.  Or should we infer that Jon Corzine doesn't appreciate the opinions expressed on KOTW.  Or is it simply that the staff member on Christie's campaign staff is just on top of it while Corzine's isn't.

August 18, 2009 (Kearny NJ) Shortly after 9 a.m. today, two individuals described to be in their 30's entered Rachel Jewelers located at 397 Kearny Avenue and shot and killed Xavier Egoavil in the course of an armed robbery.  Tragically, the shooting occurred in the presence of family members.  Rachel Jewelers is located in the heart of the town across from the Kearny Town Hall and down the street from Arcos Pastry.

July 19, 2009 (Kearny NJ)  Why was the record number of users on our Discussion Board at the same time 167 back on December 19,  2006?   On December 18, 2006, the New York Times published an article about the David Paczkiewicz / Matthew LaClair controversy entitled Talk In Class Turns to God, Setting Off Public Debate on Rights and directly mentioned KOTW's Discussion Board.  What followed was a record number of posts to our Discussion Board and increased traffic to the website. 

August 19, 2009 (Kearny NJ) A reliable source has advised us that Frank Digesere, the current Bloomfield School Superintendent, has resigned to take the Superintendent's position in Kearny.

It appears that Digesere will have a contract spanning three and a half years at a salary of $195,000 plus increases of 3.5 percent each year for the balance of the contract.

Digesere made $188,000 as the Bloomfield Superintendent.  Digesere reportedly quit Bloomfield because he had several heated confrontations with Board of Education members over the past year.

Digesere was the former Kearny High School Principal before leaving Kearny and becoming the Superintendent in Bloomfield.
