April 27, 2011 (Kearny, NJ) The results of the Kearny School Board election are in. The following are the vote counts:

John Leadbeater 921 15.82%
John A. Plaugic Jr. 877 15.06%

David J. Stevenson Jr. 854 14.67%
Richard A. Ribeiro 543 9.33%
Alex Valdez 537 9.22%
Dinis Conceicao 269 4.62%
Personal Choice 6 0.10%

Total 5,823 100.00%

The top three candidates, S.J. Zibbie Viscuso, John Leadbeater and John A. Plaugic Jr. will sit on the Board. The results once again point out that the voter turn out in School Board Elections is extremely low.

The school board budget question passed. A total of 1962 people voted with 1194 (or 60.86%) voting Yes and 786 (or 39.14%) voting No.
